Try Out Speedway Karts This Sunday

press release 15 April 2013

Speedway karting is enjoyed by both young and old on a monthly basis only 5 minutes drive North of Penrith at The Nepean Motorsports Complex with 2 tracks available, 300 metre and 400 metre.

There is a great family friendly atmosphere, well stocked canteen and a format that includes 3 Heats a Final and a point score that includes passing points where it not only rewards the experienced it also rewards the newcomer that keep his or her nose clean throughout the day. All this is open to any driver who holds an AKA license Australia wide.

For a newcomer to our sport we offer various come and try / Practice days throughout the year.

The go karts are both conventional tar karts (generally a 28 mm chassis will work fine) and also offset speedway karts with a mix of success. Tyres are the Dunlop KT 6 Wet for all the standard classes and a speedway specific KT Combined class exists with a little broader tyre list but most competitors use the MOJO or MG White Wet tyre.

The rule book is the exact same as our cousins on the tar with a sub section for speedway in the middle of the book and from there the options and fees look like this - First you must join a AKA sanctioned club (Ours is the cheapest at single membership $60, Family Membership $90, and our race entry is also the cheapest at $70.

An  E grade practice license exists which enables you to practice at any AKA track as many times a year as you want and also entitles you to (one) race meeting a year all for $49. A single event day license is also available for $65.

If you want no stress straight up race license for 12 months $270  which includes as a newcomer your first 3 race meetings to start from the rear as a P plater or straight to a full if you have held a AKA license in the last 3 years.

All license applications must be made directly to the AKA via the website and applications must be in before the close of business the Wednesday before the weekend of the Practice / Race meeting.

As an offer to any driver who hasn’t raced with us before, we are offering for your first time a race day entry fee of $40.

This coming Sunday the 21st April we have a Come and Try / Practice Day at $40 each driver. If you are newcomer and you decide you like our sport the $40 will be deducted from your new club membership application.

The next race meeting is the 5th of May and the classes that will run will include Cadets, Rookies, Juniors Combined, Clubman Light, Clubman Heavy and KT Combined. Gates open at 7am with racing from 10am.

The New South Wales Speedway Kart Club has continued to grow as a club for the last 22 years and has hosted such drivers as Mark Winterbottom,  Ian Madsen, Mitchell Dumesny, Scott Darely and Nathan Smee just to name a few.

Hope to see you at Nepean Motorsport Complex Rickards Rd Castlereagh this coming Sunday for a come and try / Practice or the 5th May race meeting .
