  • A crash helmet that bears the standard AS1698 is approved for AKA competition. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has conducted testing on a number of helmets and two have been found not to comply. The ACCC has consequently issued a recall on the following helmets: Kylin XR 205 (open face skull cap style helmet, unlikely to be used in karting) and KBC VR-1X (full face motor cycle helmet). Further detail is on the ACCC website HERE. If you have one of these helmets, it should be returned to the place of purchase for refund or replacement.
