Stewart Chasing World Final Seat at Pro Tour

press release 10 July 2013

Canberra young gun Michael Stewart will look to use the final round of the 2013 Rotax Pro Tour on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast to cement his position amongst the twelve drivers to race at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in New Orleans in November.

With an impressive display of determination to draw himself onto the podium at the last round of the Pro Tour in Ipswich, Stewart is looking to match that performance in the event to be held in Gympie.

"I’m really looking forward to the Gympie event, and to back up after my performance at Ipswich.

"After International Karting Distributors (IKD) put on a wonderful event under lights at Ipswich, the Gympie round will be a perfect way to complete the Pro Tour season,” Stewart said.

With just 100 points separating Michael and DD2 series leader, Jason Pringle, the young star will be out to benefit from another podium result to secure the elusive second and final seat at the World Finals in the category.

"The rankings are getting tighter and I’m looking to have another good finish help with the points in the lead up to the Nationals in September,” Stewart added.

Just one event remains after Gympie in the 2012/2013 Rotax rankings cycle, being the Rotax Nationals to be held in Puckapunyal Victoria next month and Michael will be looking to use this as a final boost before the New Orleans event.

“To win the Nationals would be my ultimate dream but it will be no easy task, I have to focus and set myself a lot of goals to achieve to make sure I can hold onto the World Finals seat,” Stewart concluded.

Round seven of the Rotax Pro Tour will take place at the Cooloola Coast Kart Club, Gympie Queensland from July 12-14.
