Ian Harrington Memorial  / STKC Rising Star Event

press release 11 July 2013

This weekend the Southern Tasmanian Kart Club is proud again to host the 2013 Ian Harrington Memorial Tasmanian Rising Star Event at  AWC Raceway  Orielton<. This prestigious title and award is one that all junior karters in Tasmania would love to add to their trophy cabinets.

Run over two days with a great support classes it will be a feast of karting action at Australia’s most southerly kart track. With Tasmania mixed weather always in as a factor in this event, the possibility of snow too add to the set up dilemmas for the teams.

A who’s-who of Tassie’s best juniors have entered with current  red plate Holder Morgan JAKOBOVSKI and McDonald’s Young Gun winner Brodie EVANS heading a close field. Thomas Clark and Liam O’Connor coming off good finishes in Smithton’s Arc in the Park should be mixing it up in the front of JNH’s with Wade Mclean. Other JNL’s to watch are local racers   Zevie EISENTRAUT, Lachlan NEWMAN and Brianna HOBDEN who all have a great chance of a good result.

For this year's event the STKC have adjusted the running of the meeting to include a qualifying shoot out to find Tasmania’s fastest karter in both Junior National Lights and Heavy on the Sunday, along with the all important event final grid slots.

Support Classes include great fields of Cadets and Rookies and seniors.

As with previous years the winner of the Rising Star award is based on multiple factors of driver’s skill, manner and behaviour and the winner will follow in the steps of previous winners such as Bodie Reading, Tayla Heath and Alistair Lee. With a great sponsorship package for some fantastic local Tasmanian companies no racer should go home empty handed.

Full facilities are available at the AWC raceway at Orielton (between Richmond and Sorell)
