Joseph Burton-Harris has switched to the ART Grand Prix Karting Australia team. He will make his debut with the squad at the Melbourne CIK Stars of Karting round later this month where, after a successful career in juniors, he will compete in karting's hardest class, the KZ2 Pro Gearbox category.

"I am so excited about this class. So far I have loved every lap" Burton-Harris said.

"The driving style is totally different to the Rotax and the gear changes keep you very busy. I cannot wait to get on the track and set a benchmark for myself in my first race.

"Being young I have time on my side but I am always impatient to succeed and KZ2 is no different. The quicker I learn the faster I should go and I am very fortunate to have some great drivers in Australia to learn from."

For 2014, JBH will race the Australian KZ2 championship plus a number of European races with the ART Grand Prix factory karting team.

Tom Williamson will be his chief mechanic and mentor for both his Australian and European campaigns. In 2013, Tom successfully engineered his KZ2 drivers to race wins and State Titles in Australia.

“We’re very fortunate to have a driver of Joseph’s calibre join our newly formed race team" said Duvashen Padayachee, Team Principal of ART Grand Prix Karting Australia.

"Joseph has always been a fast young driver to watch for and with his move into the senior ranks being inevitable, we have focused our efforts on being able to provide him with the best equipment, service and grounding in KZ2, while opening up an avenue to the highly competitive CIK-FIA kart racing scene in Europe."

ART Grand Prix Karting Australia will continue to run its factory team driver, Aaron Borg, in the TAG-Light category.

The final round of the CIK Stars of Karting series is held from the 20th-22nd of September, 2013, and will be broadcasted on SPEED TV across four 30-minute programs.
