whatsa happenin' inna go-kart land...

  • CC Racing's Clint Cathcart was awarded the 'Mechanic of the Year' title for the 2013 CIK Stars of Karting series. Clint, pictured below in the CC Racing workshop in South Melbourne, spannered Liam McLellan to the KF Junior championship. The full list of CIK award winners was published yesterday HERE.

  • On-board footage from the recent Rock Island Grand Prix in the United States. This is riding with Todd Bolton in the 'Yamaha Super Can Medium' class. Seven different drivers had a go in the lead on this pretty fast track; almost like a flat speedway with just one right-hand corner and plenty of drafting:

  • Below is the International KZ2 Super Cup - Pre Final 2, won by Kiwi Daniel Bray. TKart is currently uploading footage from the event in France on the weekend, so if you missed the live coverage, hopefully you'll be able to watch the races on YouTube shortly.

  • Video from the 2013 RMAX Challenge Noreste, the biggest kart street race in Mexico:

  • David Sera was at the VKA Junior Development Camp at Bendigo on Monday & Tuesday and got the drivers to sign his t-shirt! "Awesome day one at the VKA Junior Development Camp!" he wrote on Facebook. "Got the signatures of all the futures stars!"

  • And speaking of t-shirts... Dubbo Kart Club, like many clubs, has its own range of club shirts that members can buy. This not only supports the club financially, but helps promote the club and the sport as they wear them proudly at race events and whenever out in public. The club has t-shirts with club logo and track layout (below), plus a range of polo shirts that can include member's own personalised kart number on the back. Full detail on the club website HERE.

  • Zane Goddard has confirmed he will be competing in Las Vegas at the SKUSA SuperNationals in November. Zane, who will be 14 by the time of the event, will be running with the Serra Racing team from Canada. Vegas will be his first international J-MAX event against the world's best aspiring race drivers. Zane, his mentor/mechanic Chris and his dad are travelling to America and hope this will be the first of several events in Europe or the USA next year. "I believe Zane has huge natural ability and his race maturity is exceptional" R360's Ben George is quoted in Zane's racing resumé. "He has full support from his family for his racing and with the right opportunities I believe Zane can make a career in motorsport."

  • Former Canberra karter, Sammuel Lee, has been in training with a UK race team in preparation for the 2014 BARC Formula Renault 2.0L UK Championship. The 20-year old currently lives in the UK but has been racing karts in Australia since he was seven. "I've moved to the UK to start my career in open wheelers" he informed KartSportNews. He was recently offered a drive in the final round of the Formula Renault 2.0L Championship but was unable to take up the offer due to lack of budget. He's subsequently on the hunt for assistance for 2014 as "the only thing which is stopping my career from going any further is a lack of sponsorship."
