Karting News Briefs

Bathurst is done, so back to the important stuff - karting!

  • Former frontline Australian karter Mark Winterbottom won the Bathurst 1000 with Steven Richards (another former karter - in fact, it would have been near impossible for a non-karter to have won!) on the weekend. In the wake of the race, Winterbottom has stated that if it were not for winning a karting competition in 2001 (the Ford sponsored KartStars Rotax series) the Bathurst win would not have happened. Full article on the AKA site HERE. (UPDATE: Mark pays tribute to his late mother after Bathurst win HERE)

  • Limited Edition 'Race of Stars' t-shirts are available for this weekend's big race. They're only $20 each plus postage if applicable, or they can be collected from the track at Pimpama. Stocks are limited, so first in best dressed - order via email: raceofstars@kartingqld.com.au

  • A strong contingent of Gladstone karters will be competing at the Race of Stars on the Gold Coast this Friday and Saturday. In fact, nine drivers from the club will head south to take part in this special event, held a week prior to, but in conjuntion with, the V8 Supercars GC600. Full article on the Gladstone Observer website HERE.

  • Remo Luciani has jetted out of Australia bound for Lyon, France, and the 2013 IAME X30 International Final. Australia will have three drivers at the event - Kosmic team driver Joseph Mawson (X30 Senior), Kip Foster (X30 Masters) and James Allen (X30 Senior). "I cant wait to get to the race circuit on Tuesday where we will be doing driver fit-out with seats etc" Remo wrote on Facebook. "I've been talking to Joseph and he is absolutely PUMPED!" Remo plans to post updates on the Remo Racing Facebook page throughout the event. After Sunday's finals, Remo will head to Italy to visit the Kosmic and IAME factories.
