It’s that time of year again when it seems as though there are Champions being crowned on just about every weekend, and sometimes the same weekend on different sides of the country.

In last month’s edition we celebrated the feats of the winners at the Rotax Nationals, while this month it is time to reflect on the Castrol EDGE CIK Stars of Karting Series finale in Melbourne, the New South Wales State Championships in Lithgow and also the Western Australian State Championships in Esperance.

As always, KARTX looks at more than just who won and who lost though. As a part of the celebrations of the Lithgow City Raceway’s 50th Anniversary year KARTX spoke with a number of long-term identities in the sport about their greatest memories of the famous New South Wales circuit.

On September 22, Dutch driver Joey Hanssen created karting history in becoming the first international driver to take out an Australian Championship.

In this edition we speak with Hanssen about his year in Australia and whether he’ll be back to defend his crown in 2014.

Right on our doorstep is the Race of Stars on the Gold Coast and then comes November with the South Australian and Tasmanian Championships along with a huge focus on America with the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals being contested in New Orleans and a huge Australian contingent heading to Las Vegas to compete in the SKUSA SuperNationals.
