2013 Inter-Club Speedway Challenge

press release 26 October 2013

Just over two years ago the NSW Speedway Kart Club and the Central Coast Speedway Kart Club together forged a concept of an Interclub Challenge. The concept was to conduct a point score series within the season championship.

Two rounds of each clubs championship would form the 4 rounds of the challenge encouraging members to race at each others event.

In its first year 2012 the concept was very well supported and again this year both clubs benefited from the support drivers gave the series. The 2013 Interclub Champions were announced at the last round on the 20th October at the NSWSKC’s championship meeting.

In the Cadet class Connor Moreau was crowned Champion mastering all 4 rounds. Connor never put a foot wrong across the 4 rounds and won an impressive 11 races from the 16 contested .

The Rookie Class and Junior Class became a family affair with Andrew and Daniel Sayre both victorious in their classes. Andrew had some close and memorable battles on way to his Rookie title while Daniel continued his dominating season showing the field a clean sweep of the event.

The Clubman Light Champion was the only driver to go back to back in the challenge from 2012 and in doing so has become the first driver to win the series as a Junior and a Senior class driver. Jake Baines won last year in the junior class and this year was crowned Clubman Light Champion.

The Clubman Heavy class last year was won by Gary Slarke and early this year he looked on track to again feature as he battled in the early rounds with Daniel Selmes. However an unfortunate incident which saw him need to retire from the season handed the lead to Selmes who had to with stand a late charge from a number of entrants to go on and record a very well deserved win.

The KT Modified class is one of the most hotly contested classes in speedway karting. The 2013 KT Modified Champion  has also placed their name into the record books. Young Lady racer Amy Shute in her first season racing in the senior ranks has become the first female to take home an Interclub Champions trophy.

The NSWSKC and the CCSKC executive committees would like to thank all members from both clubs for their continued support of this event. The support shown indicates that the concept has been and is a success and look forward to the battles next season between the drivers.
