  6 November 2013

stay on the pace; stay up to date...

  • Industry - Lenzo Kart Australia has announced that Jason Webster of Territory Karts has been appointed the Lenzo Kart distributor in the Northern Territory. The WA firm is planning to name some further distributors in the coming days.

  • Event - 5 races per class at the Hot Summer Nights Riverina Cup at Griffith this Saturday night. Link to Supp Regs on the Race Calendar page.

  • International - Florida Winter Tour organisers are offering a discount to karters registering for the 2014 FWT Formula Kart Racing and Rotax Max Challenge. Racers can enjoy a $100 saving if they register online for all-three event weekends prior to December 31. More info HERE.

  • Aussies Overseas - The Rotax World Final kicks off next week and all 360 drivers from 53 nations are now registered for the New Orleans event. Twelve Australians will compete in the four main classes. The full entry list for all categories, which include a photo of each driver (click the flag next to their name) can be viewed HERE. Broadcasting from the track will commence on November 13. Live timing and streaming video of the races is set to happen HERE (currently there is a great promo video playing on the link).

  • Rotax Worlds - Rotax are starting to post images from the track as the NOLA Motorsports Park is prepared to receive drivers and crew from around the world. See the facebook page HERE for more.

  • International Driver - Talk about cutting it fine... Devlin deFrancesco has been confirmed in the lineup for Team Canada at the Rotax Worlds, but only after an appeal to a 19-position penalty was changed by the Canadian ASN to a one position penalty after the qualification event. Additionally, the Junior MAXer will be custom fitted with a carbon fibre cast 48 hours prior to practice in New Orleans. This is due to a scheduled reconstructive surgery on his wrist where two metal screws were inserted in the bone a week ago

  • Helmet Art - This is the helmet Ben Stewart will wear at the Vegas Supernationals later this month. Ben got Frank Stivala of rStar Design to come up with a look for his new OMP lid, and this is the result - including the dice in the blue-tinted spoiler! "Frank really went all out when I gave him the option to design a Vegas lid for me, and without a doubt he delivered" Stewart wrote on facebook.

  • Track Upgrade - Melbourne International Kartway (Todd Rd) is undergoing a refurbishment and will receive a full re-surfacing tomorrow. Check out the photos below, supplied by Geoff Willison. Also note that part of the pits are being sealed! "All cut throughs and preliminary works are done, the nasty hump in the pits near the canteen has gone and the track proper will be laid tomorrow" Willison advised KartSportNews. "It will be a cracker - watch the lap times and records tumble."
