Orsini FA Swiss Hutless Replica Restore

  8 January 2014

We've already profiled a previous work by South Australian karter Glenn Davidson, a Johnny Mislijevic Formula A Tony Kart replica restoration, published last week HERE.

This Swiss Hutless was the next project in line. Davidson purchased the kart, a 1999 Swiss Hutless Evolution CIK chassis, off auction website gumtree.

"Although it looks rough in the early pictures, with a little bit of cleaning and plastic replacing, this kart was in really good condition" Davidson said.

"Even though it’s a '99 chassis, I decided to do this kart like Max Orsini’s 1995 Formula Super A World Championship winning kart, as it was always one of my favourites."

"Ninety percent of the parts that came on the kart were original and in great condition, so once a new fuel tank, plastics and seat were fitted, the kart had all its parts to start the build."

Davidson said the frame had no cracks, so once it was stripped and freshly powder coated, it was just a matter of cleaning and re-fitting the parts that had been stripped off the kart originally.

"Again, this kart was setup and fine tuned by Greg Young who was a big help in building the kart" Glenn added.

Davidson took delivery of the Hutless in mid September 2013 and took a couple of months to complete the work. It hit the track for the first time late last month.

"My next three projects are 1997 Jenson Button Tecno ss22, James Courtney Tony Kart Extreme and 1997 Danilo Rossi CRG Heron."
