Launceston's Twilight Thunder

The F.T. Guy Bodyworks Twilight Thunder race meeting held at Archerville Kartway certainly lived up to its name with seventeen of Tasmania’s best drivers battling it out in the high horsepower Open Performance Class.

The field included 200cc Supers, KZ2 Shifters, Clubman Twins and even some Formula 100 singles. They all put on a show that had the large crowd watching from every vantage point. The most popular spot was at the end of the main straight where most of the action occurred and the sheer outright speed and the immense braking efforts were on display.

The day’s format was a little different to normal with the club electing to run a Saturday afternoon/evening twilight meeting to take full advantage of the summer weather. All the credit must go to Stuart Lee for not only coming up with the idea, but also following it through to ensure it was a great event for the 95 drivers, pit crews and spectators.

Stand out efforts on the day were Jamie Bricknell, who not only won Clubman Heavy but also took the win in the feature event driving his Shamick Racing KZ2 CRG. Keenan Slater, who also took a double win in Senior National Light, and TAG Restricted Light. Adrian Harper who showed the Over 40’s Pro field a clean pair of heels first time out. And Brodie Sward who received Senior Driver of the Day in his first meeting after graduating from Juniors.
