The Central Coast Speedway Kart Club hosted round 2 of the 2014 Club Championship on Sunday 23rd March at the Gosford Showground.

Under threatening skies, 50 plus speedway karters defied the weather gods and turned out to race on the fast racey showground circuit. By mid morning the threat of rain had cleared leaving the drivers to focus on the job at hand, gaining valuable championship points in their season long chase for glory.

The first class on track  was the talented young Cadet drivers sponsored by Boxsell Grafix, and a day long battle between Skye Loder, Brayden Shute and James Angilley kept the crowd on hand entertained. In heat 2, Skye beat James by just half a kart length, however James returned the favour and had the same margin result for 2nd and 3rd  on Skye in the 3rd heat. After engine dramas in his first 2 heats and being unable to start, Brayden hit the track recorded wins in heat 3 and the final with some spirited driving. New drivers in the class Chole Angilley, Charlotte Gillespie and Heath Rogers continue to improve and will be giving the front runners some hurry up very soon.
Overall result for the day was 1st Skye Loder , 2nd James Angilley, 3rd Brayden Shute.

The Express Lube sponsored Clubman Light Class was very competitive on the day with 4 different winners taking out the races. Heat 1 saw Luke Ward lead home the field, in Heat 2 it was lady racer Jade Pollock who got the win and another lady Nat Genner took out Heat 3, whilst in the final race Nick Gilbert held on to take victory .
Nick and Jade were tied on points at the end of the day but courtesy of  his feature win, on count back Nick received 2nd place overall with Jade in 3rd.
Overall result 1st Nat Genner , 2nd Nick Gilbert , 3rd Jade Pollock .

Davistown RSL proudly sponsors the Rookie class who were next to use the track. Current Australian Champion Luke Geering was in the field, along with 6 other drivers. After the first heat where Sean Morley got the win over the champ, most at the venue thought that Luke was in for a tough day. But never bet against a champ when he is down, as Luke then went on to claim heats 2 and 3 and the final. Whilst Luke won these races Liam Walker , Ethan Rietdyk, Caitlin Genner , Holly Cady and Sean all gave him something to think about as they all continue to show improvement .
Overall results 1st Luke Geering , 2nd Liam Walker , 3rd Sean Morley .

The KT Light division sponsored by Huckel Excavations and the Precision Motorsport  sponsored KT Heavy class ran together on the program. In the light class heat 1 was taken out by Leighton O’Brien, then rookie driver to the class this season, Jake Baines was successful in heats 2 & 3 and was victorious in the final event. In the heavy class Jason Bisset won heats 1 & 3 with Peter McKenzie winning heat 2 and Les Green took the final convincingly. The class welcomed a new lady racer Samantha Shute for her first full race meeting in which she did very well.
Overall result Light 1st Jake Baines , 2nd Leighton O’Brien , 3rd Mitchell O’Brien
Overall result Heavy 1st Les Green , 2nd Jason Bisset , 3rd Peter McKenzie

The C&A Mobile sponsored Junior National class had some of the best racing of the day . The class is very close in talent and speed and the season points chase is going to be exciting to watch. Heat race wins went to Kayla Green and Jake Donaldson , both drivers went into the final as the high points drivers and everyone was ready to watch them duke it out to see which one would end up the victor for the day. Unfortunately Jake had mechanical difficulties on the roll up laps and did not start the race. In the final, Aussie Champ Marcus Dumesny lead the field home after taking the race lead early and was then never challenged. Kayla would end with enough points in the final however, to take her first ever round win.
Overall result 1st Kayla Green , 2nd Marcus Dumesny , 3rd Jake Doanldson .

Clubman Heavy sponsored by Bleeding Edge Computers had the biggest field of the meeting. Gary Morris showed his class taking wins in heat 1 & heat 3 and also the Final. His perfect day was only disrupted by Matthew Angilley who took out heat 2 after a battle with Peter Styles. Rookie driver Peter Ellis finished a creditable 5th place overall on the day.
Overall results 1st Gary Morris , 2nd Peter Styles , 3rd Matthew Angilley

The resurging elite Sportsman class sponsored by MFM Omega Racing Karts has everyone excited in the sport. These karts are the fastest class on the speedway kart circuit at the moment and take concentration and a high skill to race at such an intense level. Donald Stevens ran this class some years ago and made a return at this meeting. He showed he hadn’t forgotten how to drive these machines taking out all 3 heats. Just when it looked like Don would get a clean sweep for the day, new comer to the class Tim Baker took out the final race with a smooth and calculated race.
Overall results 1st Donald Stevens , 2nd Tim Baker , 3rd Tim Beattie .

The day was a great success for the club with some hard fast wheel to wheel racing in all classes through out the day. The next meeting for the club will be the annual Autumn Twilight race to be held at the Gosford Showground on April 12th. Racing is due to start at 1.30pm and full canteen facilities are available during the day.

The club is also holding a Speedway Junior Development day on Sun April 13. Please contact the club for bookings and further information at  www.ccskc.com.au.
