Loeskow Makes Chassis Change in KF Title Hunt

press release 28 March 2014

Bundaberg’s Troy Loeskow has transferred to the Fernando Alonso (FA) Kart ahead of the opening round of the 2014 Castrol Edge CIK Stars of Karting Series. Loeskow will again contest the senior KF category where he finished second in the 2013 Championship.

After a long association with the Kosmic brand, Troy made the switch to the FA Kart for the new year and remains hopeful of a return to the pace and results achieved in the second half of last year. Loeskow admits that early season testing has been positive and feels as though the team will be in a good position for the Ipswich event.
“The new Fernando Alonso chassis has similar settings as the Kosmic used in 2013, so we are hoping that will be able to start the season with the same winning results achieved in the final rounds of 2013,” Loeskow said.

Despite the change in chassis brand for the new season, Troy has continued his association with MG Engines for the 2014 racing year and believes the setup achieved with the new FA chassis will place him in a good position for the season ahead.

“Our main goal for this year is to move one place better in the championship than last year, and to also perform well at each round. I’m really happy to be working with MG engines again and I feel we will be able to give the title a really good shake,” Loeskow added.

For the opening round of the new season for the Castrol Edge CIK Stars of Karting Series, a day/night ‘twilight’ format has been adopted which will see qualifying and the opening heat held into Friday evening before the remaining heat races taking place across Saturday and the two 25 lap finals into Saturday night.

“The 'twilight' race in Ipswich for round one will alter the setups and race strategies used in previous events. We will need to consider these conditions while practicing on Friday, it will certainly be something different and should be great to watch for spectators both at the track and those watching online,” Loeskow concluded.
