SKUSA Boss Talks Turkey

  28 April 2014

Tom Kutscher is "Mr SKUSA", boss of the privately-owned karting organisation that runs various Shifter and TaG karting events in America, including the famous SuperNationals in Las Vegas.

A new business of his, IAME USA West, was recently appointed as one of the two IAME distributors for North America (see industry news from earlier this month HERE).

In an interview with ekartingnews.com, Kutscher said he reckons the current multi-engine TaG program is flawed and "the idea of a one-engine program is very attractive and it eliminates so much of the BS". So, expect to see IAME-only TaG classes in SKUSA's future! (With the exception of TaG Cadet which Kutschur said will continue with Vortex's Mini Rok as the spec engine.)

Over the past few years, Kutscher has 'speced' various components run in SKUSA races. Eg, the tyre supply (private-labeled MG tyres), oil and fuel supply, plus a spec SKUSA exhaust pipe for the Stock Honda shifter class.

For his company, and his dealers, it makes business sense to have a controlled supply of these products, but he says it also provides his racers with known product at a cost-controlled fixed price and that they don't need to go testing multiple products to be competive.
