  • LUCKY ESCAPE: This is the aftermath of a fire at the SKUSA SpringNationals' Dallas Karting Complex round on the weekend. Kart360, who facebooked this photo, said the fire was contained and everyone was safe but the CRG West team lost their trailer and canopy. The TaG Senior class that was on track at the time was red flagged and people directed onto the circuit to evacuate the paddock area while the Fire Department was called. Once given the all clear, the event continued. Further photos are on canadiankartingnews HERE.

  • COME & TRY: Gladstone Kart club will be conducting a come-n-try day at their South Trees Drive track this Sunday from 10am to 2pm. If you have a friend in the area who's interested in proper kart racing, make sure you let them know about this! "No experience is needed. There will be club members on hand to help and guide the drivers on the day," club spokesperson Craig Butler told The Observer website. More information HERE.

  • WARM UP: There is a push to bring back a morning warmup session at CIK, State and National events. "We have started a petition in hope that the organisers of CIK and the new board listen to the drivers and bring back the morning warm up" Lorraine Farley informed KartSportNews. She is hoping to have at least 90% of the CIK drivers sign up, "but happy to have support from anyone else who will sign it." The idea is to bring local CIK more into line with what happens at CIK overseas. "There is also a safety aspect to allow drivers to ensure any major changes made over night are safe. CIK (events) have plenty of racing laps and drivers have been requesting (a warm up) but the response has been blunt that they are there to race". The petition is at change.org HERE.

  • VIDEO: A couple of different angles of the KZ2 crash at the CIK Stars of Karting round at Bolivar. Drivers involved were Jake Coleman & Kurt Kostecki. They both walked away.

  • CLUB/TRACK: Wimmera Kart Club wish to quash any rumours about the track at Horsham not being ready in time for the Victorian Country Series round there on May 18. "We assure everyone that it is full steam ahead at Wimmera Kart Racing Club for the third round of the Victorian Country Series" club President Shane Souter has said. "The work is almost complete. A VERY BIG THANKS to those that made it to the working bee over the weekend." Another working bee will be held this weekend to finalise the works.
