Jake Celebrates Back-to-Back Wins

driver press release 27 May 2014

Junior speedway kart racer Jake Donaldson has celebrated in style winning round four on Sunday at Nepean Speedway.

This comes only one week after he dominated the Central Coast meeting at Gosford Showground, where he won four races from four starts.

Jake won the hotly contested Junior National Class which consists some of Australia’s best Speedway Juniors.

The team had massive dramas less than twelve hours before race day with ignition issues which required pulling down the motor. A replacement ignition was sourced late Saturday night which meant the team had a long night ahead to get the kart to the track and be ready to race the following day.

Luckily Jake was well rested and focused on winning Sunday’s Celebration Day format, which teams up random Senior and Junior drivers for an overall points tally.

Both Jake and his Senior team mate Daniel Sayre (who incidentally was Jake's main competition in Juniors last year before progressing to the Senior ranks) were keeping a close eye on each other’s progress throughout the day.

Speedway rules dictate that the day’s highest point scorers start the final from the rear of the grid and a good points haul meant Jake and Dan started P13 and P10 respectively.

Dan went on to win his race while Jake raced from P13 to P2 in under twelve short laps.

Not only did Jake score the overall round win in the Junior National Class, he also claimed the coveted Scott Darley Achievement of Excellence award for overall highest points in the Club, as well as the Celebration Day team award with team mate Daniel Sayre.

This weekend will see Jake back on the tar at Eastern Creek only a week before he contests the NSW Speedway Kart State Title at Kurri Kurri Speedway.
