Time Has Arrived For NSW Speedway Kart Titles

Just hours remain until the 2014 AKA New South Wales Speedway Kart Titles kick off.

Teams, drivers and families have been preparing for weeks in order to be ready for one of the biggest days of the year. Kurri Kurri Speedway is set to host the Titles for the very first time - but it’s not the only ‘first’ for this year’s title, as the Cadets are set to compete in the Title, and finals will be run under lights.

From the ages of just 7-12, young racers from around the state will competed for #1 Blue plate. Not only is it great to have the Cadets as part of the State Titles, but it will continue to teach them about the sport and about competition.

Just under one hundred Karters will contest the NSW State Titles across eight other classes including Rookies, Junior Light, Junior Heavy,  Clubman Light, Clubman Heavy, Clubman Over 40s, KT Light and KT Heavy.

The track proved to be very racey when the club raced there back in early May. It produced two and even three wide racing with the same expected this weekend.

Defending champions of the event include, Andrew Sayre (Rookies, though Andrew has moved up to Juniors), Daniel Sayre (Junior Light, has now moved up into seniors), Michael Saller (Clubman Light and Heavy), Garry Morris (Clubman Over 40s), Tim Beattie (KT Light) and Don Stevens (KT Heavy).

A number of current Australian Champions will also be there to hunt for a maiden NSW crown, or  add another one to their ever growing list. They include Les Green, Luke Geering, Marcus Dumesny and Wayne Baines.

Dean’s Tyre, Brakes and Mechanical from Narellan, Karting World and Autobarn Maitland are the major sponsors of the weekend. The club would like to thank them for their support of this weekend’s NSW Speedway Karting State Titles.

The format will see drivers compete in four rounds of heats over 10 laps. Points will then determine the starting grid for the final with the lowest points from the front, highest points at the rear (AKA terms, winners in heat racing get no points). Finals, which will be conducted under lights, will be run over 20 laps with the winner of that being crowned the NSW State Title winner.

Entry into the track (this is also the case for drivers) will be $15 for adults while Children aged 10-15 is $5. Kids under 10 get in FREE! The venue is located at 73-81 Dickson Road, Loxford.

Good Luck to ALL!
Have fun, stay safe, go hard!
