Vortex introduced two new engines to karting on the Wednesday of the Rok Cup at Sarno - the Rok Micro and Rok DVS. Tony Kart's new KZ World Champion, Marco Ardigò, along with second place Flavio Camponeschi, were first to sample the new 38hp DVS - as was one lucky Aussie...
ROK DVS
Being direct drive (no clutch), some might think the DVS is a step backward as it goes away from the current 'standard' TaG concept.
While the 125cc DVS has no starter (so requires no battery or wiring loom), it does not need the kart to be lifted to start the motor as it incorporates a decompression valve in the cylinder head. Simply hold the valve button down and one person can gently push the kart until it fires and drives away.
This would appear to be a partial return to what karting is all about - a simple and lightweight engine that provides maximum driving enjoyment.

MICRO ROK
Vortex also revealed the Micro Rok "designed to meet the wide audience of the young drivers who wish to become true Rokkers... It has an adequate yet appropriate performance level according to the age of drivers to whom it is aimed (6 years and older)."
